A new kickstarter project has been introduced that has great appeal to me and I guess to most mandolin lovers. The author, Graham McDonald, has been fascinated by mandolins for well over forty years and this is not his first publication around the mandolin.

As described by the author:
A comprehensively illustrated book on the history of mandolins, a fascinating and varied stringed instrument.
I have been fascinated by mandolins for well over forty years. I bought my first one in the early 1970s and built my first around a decade later. A few years after that I started writing about them an in 2004 published a book, a workshop manual, on building Irish bouzoukis, a larger version of a mandolin. I followed that in 2008 with another book on building mandolinsthemselves. I included a chapter on mandolin history and realised that little has been written on the history of mandolins, at least in comparison to the many books about guitars, banjos and ukuleles.

And here is a message from Graham McDonanld to theMandolinTuner community:
Hello Christos and the MandolinTuner community,
Thank you for your interest in my soon-to-be-published book on the history of mandolins The Mandolin – a history. It tells the story of mandolins (and mandolin family instruments) from the very first stringed instruments up to the modern day and looks at them from both a European and American perspective. The book will run to over 400 pages with more than 450 colour illustrations and will provide both an entertaining and educational read. There are a couple of draft chapters on my website as downloadable pdf to give you some idea of the book is like. There are links on the Kickstarter page as well. The Kickstarter project is to pre-sell enough copies to pay for the printing, and the books will be mailed out from the printer as soon as they roll off the press. Feel free to get in contact if you need any more information.
I hope you enjoy the book.
Cheers
Graham
